By now, you should have assigned and graded several informal assessments. How have you been using the results of these assessments to improve how you teach and what students learn? What strategies has your CT suggested for providing students with guidance before they do the assignment to improve their performance? What about after the assignment?

I have used a couple different informal assessments in my class. The first was a pre-test in order to check and see if the students could reproduce a representation of the seasons. The students had a diagram of the Earth in four different positions representing the four different seasons. I didn't warn the student of the quick assessment to see how much they actually knew. I figured this would prevent them from just memorizing the diagram. After giving the students this assessment I looked all of them over to see what misconceptions students were still holding onto or anything students were still having trouble grasping. Looking back at this assessment I would probably change it so that the assessment was a little more in depth therefore giving me a better idea of the understanding of the students.

I also had the students come up with claims and evidence by themselves and then submit them. I looked over each one and gave them feed back not only on their content but also their writing and verbal skills. I then went over with the students why i gave them feedback and why it was important to read over.
